What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #403

We're getting back into our term time routine here, which means the kitchen table has seen no crafty action this week. I've been doing a bit of hand sewing here and there, which doesn't require any setting up. Clearing away only involves throwing the hexies back in their bag and can be done at the drop of a hat.

Instead of a desk, I've got the remaining two cards from last week's class to share.

Sticking with the Lift Me Up stamp set, I paired it with Timeless Textures to build the background. I like the contrast between the clean white base and the balloons stamped on kraft card. Lifting them with foam pads for depth. I inked the sentiment stamp selectively, with a marker, to get the part of it I wanted for this card.

For the final card, I stamped in the same ink as the first. Using different card stock has changed the colour of the balloons quite dramatically. The background square is cut with a stitched framelit and stamped with the Watercolour Wash background. Another favourite of mine for a quick and effective result.

There you have it. Four quite different cards from the same stamp set. I like to show the versatility. Which is your favourite?

Linking up with Julia and the Deskers, before I head out in the dark. Hoping the lighter mornings are not far off now.

PS The card that I was working on last week is here for those that asked to see it.

I love hot air balloons, never been in one, not sure I would if I got the opportunity but I love to see them on cards. The first one has a gorgeous background stamp, sort of squared lines - that is fabulous and what a great idea to use it in that way and so delicately.

Morning Fiona. Sorry, I can't choose between the two - I like them both. They are completely different even though so many elements are the same. Well done.
Take care. God bless.

Two more gorgeous cards! I do like your clean graphic design layouts, they appeal to me far more than overly fussy. Hope everything is going well with S's work and A's uni stuff :-)

I, too, like both cards and am intrigued by both of the backgrounds, but particularly the watercolor wash stamp which seems like it would be very versatile.

Hi Fiona, it's amazing what a change of background, or ink colour can do with a design. Love the first one, very muted colours, make a great guys card. Have a great week, hugs, Shaz#5 xxx

Lovely cards - that set looks wonderful. Reminds me of the Balloon festival there is close by every year. As you drive by you can see lots and lots of balloons up in the air - beautiful sight.

Changing the cardstock for the balloon stamp certainly gives it a new look on each card. My favorite is the textured white background with the balloons on craft - a striking combination!

WOYWW#3 Melissa - thanks for stopping by this week

Both cards are lovely! I like how you popped up the balloons - great effect. I am toying with the idea of choosing one or two stamps and doing 2-4 journal pages using them, I love the idea of using the same images in different ways! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #37

Hi Fiona,

Your cards are great! I wouldn't think I'd be interested in balloon stamps until now. Love the colors you've used.

All four are lovely cards but I think my favourite is the first of the two in your previous post which shows two of the cards but I also like the second of today's two - I think it's the sentiments on those two cards that have influenced me particularly. Have a good week. Elizabeth x #30

I think the final one might be my favourite. Because spirit lifting cards are just the best!

Love the watercolour wash background, I'm still using my Hero Arts shadow stamps for such things, talk about getting the most out of things! I hope the routine is much improved by increasing daylight and warmer mornings!

Hi Fiona (Cullin?) got your name but not your number from the visit to my desk, I'm hoping i have the right Fiona - painting is easy you pick up a brush and you paint, and just like when you learn to write, the more you do it the better you get at it... you clearly already understand composition, your cards are so lovely : the second has much more depth, but the
first is a well balanced card too, I have a love of hot air balloons, but as I think I said before to someone, I always get the 'up up and away' nimble advert playing in my head... ( you are probably too young...) any hoo, happy crafting, love Dxx #42

It's so hard when you don't have a dedicated craft space, I have so many ideas of things I want to do but when I think about getting the things out and then having to pack them away I never seem to bother getting them out in the first place :( I have really loved seeing this set of cards :)
