Me on Monday ~ The "Bye For Now" Edition

Today you find us at the beginning of a busy week for my boy. Keeping him calm in between exams is a full time job. Frankly, it's exhausting.

I'll be taking a little break from the blog until they are over. I also have a prom dress to finish and I'm looking forward to sharing that with you. Waving to Sian and all the other Mondayers. Have a great week.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #314

I've been flitting between the kitchen table and the ironing board this week. Princess seams finally cracked on Monday and yesterday I marked....

.....pinned.....

.....and sewed the darts.

This morning I've basted the side and shoulder seams, ready for (yet another) fitting when my girl gets home from her History exam. The rest *should* be plain sailing. Let's hope so. Only two weeks to go until prom. Happily, I'm feeling much more confident than I was on Sunday.

Linking up with Julia and the deskers today.

One Photo & Twenty Words

Linking up with Abi over at Creating Paper Dreams this afternoon.

Visualising myself sitting on this bench in the sunshine, while waiting at the heart murmur clinic with my girl today.

All is well.

Me on Monday ~ The Doge Edition

We're still embroiled in exam season around here. Another weekend much the same as the last.

Revision and prom dress fitting.....

.....and princess seams. Something new to me and involving a fair bit of trickery to sew. There was so much extra fabric to ease in, I thought I must have cut the pieces in different sizes. I hadn't.

Today you'll find me with a much easier task. Ironing the transfers, drawn by my girl for her friends, onto plain white t-shirts. It's a Shiba Inu, star of an internet meme. No, I'd never heard of it either.

Waving to Sian on this sunny Monday afternoon.

Stampin' on Saturday ~ Flower Power

I do love a good flower stamp. Along with butterflies, they are among the most used motifs from my stamp collection. The Petite Petals set, with matching punch, has certainly earned its keep.

While I was making the mosaic cards, the other day, I thought that the embossing folder looked a bit like a trellis. I could imagine something growing there. I took a flourish and stamped it a few times before embossing the card. Finishing with a sprinkle of flowers and a sentiment.

I took the same flourish and stamped it once this time. Adding a label, which I stamped onto a separate piece of card and cut out, before embellishing with a cluster of flowers. Leaving me with plenty of white space.

Finally, the type of card we never want to make. I always keep it very simple when making sympathy cards. The flourish didn't quite fit the idea I had in mind so I picked a leafy stem instead. Positioning the flowers to cover up the berries.

Using one flower from the set and just two ink pads, in grey and green, I changed the card stock colour each time to give me some variety. Do you have a favourite stamp or motif that you use a lot?

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #313

Not a lot to show on my kitchen table this week. A few bits I got out to try and come up with the fourth card for my class today. The first three came relatively easy. One design giving rise to the next. This one, not so much.

I got there in the end. All the kits are cut and everything else is packed and ready to load in the car later. My girl has three exams today so I will be head cheer leader, before teacher, this morning.

PS Still struggling along with Blogger. Live Writer is refusing to play nice. Despite all my Googling efforts I've turned up nothing helpful so far. Does anyone else use it? If you have any light to shed I'd be grateful.

Me on Monday ~ The History Breakfast Edition

Another busy weekend around here. Gone in a flash, as seems to be the case of late. The first day of June already. Really? That meant it was an early morning session in school, ahead of today's History exam, with breakfast laid on. Home in time for elevenses and the usual post mortem. Her brother was keen to know if any of his helpful tips had come in handy, for this, his favourite subject.

It was a tempting my girl to eat (with eggy bread) after a week of feeling poorly....

....receiving this lovely Liberty in the post, to make a dress for my niece's wedding....

....watching the last episode of the season....

....spreading out the fabric on the floor to cut a circular skirt kind of weekend.

How was yours? Waving to Sian on this Monday afternoon, having just made a dash to rescue the washing. I did say it was June, didn't I?!
