What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #332

The answer to that is nothing crafty, at the moment. My kitchen table task, for this afternoon, is filling a shoe box to wrap and send to my boy.

On the sewing front, I've started to gather supplies for this month's SIPIDI project. I need to find a contrast fabric to go with this one. I'm sure I have something suitable in my stash.

How cute is the selvedge on this Japanese print?

That's it from me. It's my girl's long day at college (I don't collect her until 6.30pm) which means I need to have dinner ready to go when I get back home. Better make a start then.

Linking up with Julia and the Deskers, this glorious Autumn afternoon.

Some yummy treats there! I've got a box under my bed I've been buying toiletries for Keagan when they are on offer or BOGOF ready for Newmarket. The things we do for our children! Take care Zo xx 32

He will enjoy those! I was at college in Winchester and my friend Trish came from Morecombe. She loved college but was desperately homesick. Her mum used to send her the most amazing boxes. A massive cardboard box would arrive and we would all crowd around to see what her mum had sent this time. The contents was usually a fluffy knitted jumper, a fruit cake, fresh oranges, viscount mint chocolate biscuits and all sorts more. I think there is no doubt that the missing each other was reciprocal. Her dear mum died many years ago but whenever I meet up with Trish I remind her of those boxes that we so jealous of!

I spy with my little eye... peanut butter oreos! Yum! He is one lucky boy. LOL And before I even realized I'd 'looked' at the fabric, the lavender jumped out at me. Creative Blessings! Kelly #43

I make up similar packages to send to my daughter out in Oz - usually full of Cadbury chocolate. I often keep selvages to use as seam binding but I think that one has a lot more potential. Just had a look at your SIPIDI posts what a great idea - I will have to have a go at that. Jackie #21

Ah, the student Red Cross parcel! My late MiL always sent us home with a few bits, even if I protested. She said she'd started doing Red Cross parcels when The Brainy One was at Uni (he was at Uni for 7 years in total!) and found it impossible to stop. Just sayin!

How kind of your to put such a delicious package together for your son. I find for late dinners the crockpot is my best friend (especially in the cooler weather). I really like your fabric especially the second one. I would make an apron from that print.

Secretly I was always envious of the folk who had a Mum who could get out and about and send boxes. I sent stuff in first year for TTO..now he says "Er Mum, you do know we have shops here, right?) but TSO tells me she's looking forward to hers already and she hasn't even decided where she really wants to go yet. I bet those Oreos will go down a treat

It is a glorious afternoon. And I bet the shoebox therapy is received really well and when he opens it..there's all the love and thought that you included with the packets, lovely. Never mind the selvedge..the whole fabric is just cute..love it! For me it would start with a cover for my Kenwood...

Now there's a lovely Mum :). I am sure that's going to be very welcome, that yummy parcel. And I love the fabric - a really cute and fun pattern. I'd like an apron in that!

The best bit about living away from home was always the food parcels and we still laugh about the three eggs Mum hand delivered one time - there were six to start with but Mum was a front seat driver and use to use an imaginary brake pedal when my Dad was driving - except this day she forgot that she had stood the box of eggs on the floor - whoops!!!!

That fabric is lovely - can you use the selvedge as a ribbon, it seems a shame to just cut it off

Now that looks like a yummy box of treats! I went to school here in Toronto so no boxes were sent to me but I did come back to residence every Sunday night with goodies from home. :)
