What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #358

"Back to School" for us this morning and the first 35 mile round trip of the Summer term was a cold one. No desk shot, because I've been a little preoccupied with other matters this week.

Me and my boy were in Salisbury yesterday for his DSA assessment. The lady running the session was brilliant. During this whole frustrating process, it was the one positive experience we've had. It was good to walk out into the sunshine and know we're almost there now. We'll have a decision on the award in 2 to 4 weeks.

Just in time for the end of his first year then.

In our absence, my girl occupied the kitchen table, to add the finishing touches to her holiday assignment. Their brief was a design for a takeaway coffee cup. The other side reads: "Needs coffee to function". That's definitely me today.

Linking up with Julia and hoping to get the sewing machine out this afternoon.

So glad you found someone who gave you a positive experience, and I hope you get the results you want in a few weeks time. I love the coffee cup, what a very talented girl you have there - it made me smile - I often have that expression before my first cuppa of the day!
Hope you have a good week,

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and your boy.

I love the cup. I saw a great phrase for one last night, in a book: "You can't shake your shimmy to tea" (it was a book set in 1936..)

Hi Fiona, just had to Google DSA- how ridiculous that it's taken a year to get sorted. But I have to say, I'm not really surprised. When I came out of hospital in the middle of October, my Doc requested a visit for me from the Occupational Health people, as the hospital had assessed I was at risk of falls. I finally got a letter to say they were going to visit at the end of March. When she came I told her it was a wasted visit- I'd needed help 6 months ago, by now I was coping fine.
I love the cup, by the way, Coffee is still my goto! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #3 xxx

Good news on the DSA. I hope things work out well. The whole thing can be so frustrating. When my middle son was first diagnosed I felt like I had to fight all the time. We are our kids' best advocates. It really can be tiring but it is all worth it in the end!

Love the coffee cup!

Have a great week

I NEED that pattern and gorgeous fabric that is just my style of frock as I dress in vintage everyday. My latest frocks are made from old curtains. I've just sent for a new pattern very similar to yours

I too had to Google DSA. What a palaver. It's good that it left you with a positive experience today. I hope you get the result you want.
The Simplicity pattern looks fab! The dress looks like something from the 60s.

I too had to google DSA. There were a few choices but it confirmed what I thought it must be. The bureaucracy of these things is ridiculous. My father had a letter today from the hospital dictated on 18th Feb and typed on 9th April. Unbelievable! Still the main thing is that things are progressing for your son. Your daughter's art work is amazing. I love that mug.

What a lot of work with your son's assessment, all possible body parts are crossed for a positive outcome. I like the dress pattern & fabric. Now that is quite an interesting coffee cup - what an artist your daughter is.
