What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #323

The Mechanic has a week of annual leave and we've been doing a few little jobs around the house. Not all these things require my assistance so I've been continuing my decluttering mission. I guess this is a round about way of saying there's nothing to see here. Not on the kitchen table anyway. I've shown my box of fat quarters. This big cardboard box houses most of my dressmaking fabric.

I couldn't resist the ikat print for 99p. It's barely a metre, but I'm hoping I can squeeze a Moss skirt out of it. The stripes are destined for another Ginger. The pattern has detailed instructions on how to match the stripes accurately, making it ideal for my first attempt at matching, and I know it fits me well. The ditsy print lawn is for an Anna dress to wear to a beach wedding next summer. Maxi length, minus the thigh high split!

I also have a suitcase containing vintage sheets, wadding and all my patterns. I'm looking for a better way to organise the latter and the #sewphotohop on Instagram has given me some great ideas. Day 11 yesterday and I'm still going strong. Today the prompt is Motivation. That's an easy one, but it will have to wait until we get home from hunting sheep.

If you want to see some actual desks, then Julia's blog is the place to be. Happy Wednesday!

You might have to forgo the pockets but I bet that fabric will make a great skirt..I really do love that pattern. I think you have the tidiest used pattern stash I've ever seen...once I've opened a pattern, the tissue seems to become twic as thick and unfoldable!!!

Oooh, I love that Anna-dress! It's been over 15 years I used my sewing machine on fabric, I only sew on paper these days ha! I bet the fabric will look very nice turned into a dress. Good luck decluttering your stuff. Happy woyww and a warm hug (high temperatures right now overhere) from Holland, Marit #36

That ikat is nice -- it's been on trend the last year or so and black & white always works. Hope you get some crafting time soon. Happy WOYWW (a couple of days late) from Laura #48

ooh some lovely patterns and fabric there too. Thanks for all your advice on the quilt, I have purchased the backing fabric this weekend so who knows, it may get done before Christmas (not saying which year though!!).

Thanks for visiting my desk already
