Pile of Postcards Exchange

It’s been fun to be part of Sian’s Summer swap. There is something delightful about postcards dropping on the door mat and mine have come from all over the place.

From Sussex and Kent, Northern and Southern Ireland and the United States.

I’ve seen quite a few popping up in my Instagram feed, including one of my own. I know that two have arrived safely at their destinations and hope the rest have too or will do very soon.

I learnt that postcards always go second class, even if you put a 1st Class stamp on them. That it’s safer to put them in an envelope, when posting abroad and confusing to the counter staff in the post Office, when you stamp that envelope to look like a postcard!

Thank you to everyone who sent me a card. With a little bit of detective work, I think I have thanked you all personally, but just in case. And, of course, big thanks to Sian for organising another fun swap.

The Great Big Swap of Little Festive Things

A little while ago Miriam dropped me a line, to see if I would like to take part in her Festive Swap and of course I said, “Yes please!” It was very exciting when a fat envelope landed on my doormat, all the way from Nashville, Tennessee, containing these little vintage style beauties.

As the light has changed throughout today, I have tried again and again to get a good shot of them. From the murk of the morning, to the brilliant sunshine at lunchtime, all to no avail. That pesky shiny metal defeated me, until the dampness set in at about 3.30 this afternoon and I decided this would have to do.

There was also this tiny tree in a thimble, which I couldn’t resist using to stage my gift box tutorial photo on Saturday. Isn’t it sweet? Thank you so much Barbara, I love them all and can’t wait to put them on our tree, when we put it up in a few days.

For my swap partner, I made a hanging snowflake ornament from stamped images, with a little added bling, in the shape of 30 rhinestones and some silver glitter. What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #220

Here we are again on this desk sharing day of the week and again I have failed to blog in between. Anyone would think it was the school holidays. No desk shot today. We’ve been out and about on day trips and plugging away at the front of the house. I’ve found time for a few quick projects in the evenings once dinner is cleared.

First up a Thank You card to send to our Queen of Desks…..

…..gift card holders for a couple of Birthday girls…..

…..and the note book I mentioned last week, made for Gemma, obviously!

It came together quite quickly and I felt like I hadn’t put much effort in so I made a matching book mark to go with it. I stamped another piece of card for the back cover.

We’re off to the cinema today. As yet undecided between Despicable Me 2 and Monsters University. I’ll be round to visit this evening.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #219

Whoosh! Another week has rushed by and here we are sharing our desks and work spaces with the rest of the world. Nothing creative happening inside this week, it’s all been going on outside, but I did get some rather lovely happy mail today.

I’m taking part in a notebook swap and this is what came for me this morning. I love it. Thank you Jess. I’ll share the one I made, once my swap partner has received it. Also in the post today the last couple of pieces of fabric for my daughter’s quilt. We both loved the Adventures with Alice line when we first saw it. It’s taken a while, but I’ve tracked down all the designs that we wanted to include. All ready to cut.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday? #174

It’s been a while since I took part in this. My kitchen table has been busy, but I’ve been without a laptop and although I’m sure it’s possible to blog from my phone I have absolutely no idea how!

I’ve been working on a few cards this afternoon and I’ll be sharing them on Saturday. The black and orange tag in the box is something I made last week for a swap. Here’s a closer look. I love a bit of heat embossing, still seems like magic to me.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #145

I am suffering from blogger’s (and crafter’s) block at the moment. This could have something to do with it.

The decorating drags on and there seems no end in sight right now. It will be worth it in the end….it will be worth it the end….it will be.

I did manage to make these simple tags for a swap, using some of those rosettes from last week.

A few people asked what MFT dies were. It stands for My Favourite Things and the range is called Die-namics. The one I have used here is called Leafy Flourish.

What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday #135

The short answer to that is…..nothing! It’s very difficult to put anything on your desk when it’s had its legs removed and is propped up against the wall in the upstairs passage way. About a week before Christmas, I lost my little creative corner to make way for the tree. Only a couple more days until Twelfth Night, when I can reclaim it. In the meantime, I’m thinking about the projects waiting to be made.

The bag that came with this book and still remains in pieces nearly a year later.

Those are just a few of the things on my ‘to do’ list and I’m looking forward to putting the legs back on my desk so that I can get started. This year I’ve pledged to A Make A Month which is being hosted by Annie over at The Felt Fairy. I’m actually hoping to make many more than that, but it’s not a bad place to start.

I’ve been making my way (slowly) through the list of bloggers taking part and popped in to say hello to some already. I’m happy to see a few familiar faces among them. If you’re joining in with this, please make yourself known. It’ll be great to get to know you and see your makes throughout the year.

The Face Book Project {Sunday Snippets}

Mel asked, “Who wants to play?”

I answered, “Ooh, yes please Mel!” and this is what I did.

Faces ‘water coloured’ with Distress Inks. I’m loving the new Seedless Preserves.

I added some embossing ink and my favourite Queen’s Gold embossing powder.

Finally a touch of Glossy Accents on her lips and white pen to highlight her eyes.

They are all packaged up now and ready to send to Mel. I can’t wait to see what everyone else has done with them.

I think there are still a few spaces left for phase two, if anyone else fancies joining in. All the details are in the post I linked to at the start.
