My Month in Numbers ~ March 2013

Having failed to post my numbers for February, I thought I’d get in early this month. March started with an eighty mile road trip, to meet up with nine lovely ladies, for two whole days of uninterrupted crafting time, in beautiful Herefordshire.

The following Friday was a mufti day for the children and they went off to school proudly wearing the two t-shirts they had made themselves.

On Mothering Sunday, I received this package, which contained two bars of my favourite Green & Blacks, along with a hand drawn card from my son.

P1020557

My daughter gave me these two paper dolls she had drawn, of herself and her brother in their home made t-shirts.

Spring seems to be a little late putting in an appearance this year, but two bunches of daffodils help to bring a hint of it into the house.

P1020582

I made twelve cards, including one for my niece who turned seventeen this month, along with Ten twinchies and twenty inchies for a swap.

I tried two new recipes, including this yummy Keralan style prawn curry from the Hairy Dieter’s book. I read two books: The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, which I enjoyed and Neverwhere, which I loved. I watched thirteen episodes of The Killing. I know I’m late to the party, but I’m enjoying catching up. Gotta love Lovefilm.

That’s my March. A bit of a random mix this month and there are a lot of ‘twos’ in there! For lots more numerical posts head on over to Julie’s place.

10 Things on the Tenth ~ Favourite Books

It’s World Book Night later this month. On their website there is an ever changing list of 100 books, from which they have chosen 25 titles to give away on the 23rd. The master list was compiled by asking people to submit their own list of 10 favourite books.

I have agonised over this many times and never been able to limit myself to just 10 titles. However, I have read a lot of the books on the list and thought I would share a few favourites from there. But….I still couldn’t pick only 10! In the end I just grabbed a random selection from my bookshelves and here they are…..

Five Things I’m Loving This Friday ~ Quilts Part 4

Some of my favourite books for patchwork and quilting this week. The links take you to Amazon, where all have the ‘Look Inside’ option, which is a great way to get a flavour of the book.

The Quilter’s Bible by Linda Clements. Probably the most useful book I’ve read on the subject of quilting. Great for beginners.

Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott

The Gentle Art of Quilt-Making by Jane Brocket

Material Obsession by Kathy Doughty and Sarah Fielke

Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts by Kaffe Fassett. In fact any of his books are inspirational and I have borrowed most of them from the library at some point.

Now onto another little thing that has been bugging me lately. Word Verification! I’ve never really minded it in the past, but in the last couple of weeks it has become almost impossible to decipher. It asks you to prove you’re not a robot, but I think you need to be one to reproduce the characters.

A few blogs that I visit regularly, seem to have added WV recently, when I’m sure they didn’t have it before. On a couple of occasions I have failed to leave a comment, because it keeps telling me that I’ve incorrectly guessed the letters. There are instructions here on how to remove it, but only if you want to of course.

I don’t intend to turn FTILTF into a platform for my ranting. Promise. Hope to see you next time.
