Sewin' on Saturday

My sewjo seems to have upped and left. I haven't completed a single dressmaking project this year. I have patterns galore and enough fabric to open a shop, but it's just not happening. I decided I needed to give myself a little push. To that end, I chatted with a couple of friends on Facebook and we came up with a plan.

I thought it would be fun to sew the same thing and as they both have a copy of this book, we chose from there. The Margot pyjama bottoms are a nice simple project and don't require a great deal of fitting. Perfect.

And perfect timing for me. These are my favourite pair of PJ bottoms and as you can see they are past their best. They've seen me through seven winters so they haven't done too badly.

The Margot pattern ties with a ribbon, but I'm going to deviate from that slightly as I prefer an elasticated waist. I'll probably add a ribbon as well, because it looks pretty and it'll give me an opportunity to try button holes on my sewing machine.

Anyone else fancy sewing up a pair of pyjama bottoms? You don't need a copy of the book. There is a Simplicity pattern, currently half price, with child and adult sizes. Alternatively there are lots of tutorials around on how to draw a pattern from a favourite pair. Feel free to join us.

Good luck with your challenge, I can't join in this one but I hope there will be others in the future that I can support :)

You've inspired me to blog about our journey too. I'm looking forward to this and I'm loving your fabric choices xx

Oh, now I'm tempted! I have no projects on the go at the moment, maybe this is what I need!
What quirky fabric - can't wait to see the finished pjs.

Good luck! I'd love to do some sewing. But if I swerve away from knitting I'll leave lots of unknitted yarn and start buying fabric instead. Problem!

I'm really looking forward to getting started on these, now that I've lost weight it's going to be nice to make things for me :) x

That looks like a great plan - are you using brushed cotton? I love your word 'sewjo'. Sian has just introduced me to knitflix ...

I remember p.j. pants being a "beginner" project in 7th grade home ec. They fit terribly though! (Way too long in the crotch. I still have your tissue holder pattern bookmarked and may try that - a LOT less fabric involved! :)
