What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #320

Since I last joined in with the weekly desk hopping we have had a family wedding and an eighteenth birthday to celebrate. Has it really only been two weeks? With both children at home (and my sewing machine breaking in the middle of making the prom dress) there has not been much craftiness happening at the kitchen table.

I did treat myself to this lovely book, courtesy of an Amazon voucher, along with a couple of other practical purchases, for when I've figured out what is wrong with the machine. In the meantime I'll share a couple more cards, from my last class, with you. I enjoyed putting these projects together with my new Butterfly Basics set and I can see many more possibilities.

A one layer card, which is something I rarely do myself and even less in class. It makes people a bit nervous I find. Especially stamping the final image, if the others have all gone well. There's nowhere to hide. I used a nice thick piece of card so that it could be turned over for a second attempt, if necessary, and nothing would show. Knowing there's a "safety net" is all the encouragement needed sometimes.

Back to my usual layers with this one. The same butterfly stamp set as above, with the addition of old favourites, Gorgeous Grunge and the woodgrain background. You can't go wrong with kraft and I like the little touch of vellum. I just love the sentiment stamp and have been putting it on every birthday card I've made lately!

My next project will probably be an album with the photos from my niece's wedding. Project Life style I think, as I have so many of them! What's next on your list to make?

I'm seriously loving those cards, the 2nd is wonderful. I've got that butterfly die tabbed as a possible buy on my next order lol

Hi Fiona- totally identify with the one layer card thing. It's exactly the reason I rarely work directly onto my card front. Hope you figure out what's wrong with the machine, and that it's not an expensive fix.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #11 xxx

Fingers crossed for the sewing machine repair! Hope you manage to fix it or it's a trip for a service. I know it's expensive but it's worth every penny.
Your cards are both gorgeous, they remind me of a fabric I bought recently :-)

You're so right about the single layer thing, and the reassurance knowing that there's another chance! I too love that text stamp....uber useful!
You've had a busy summer already, I think you must be due a break now! I saw the attack of the screwdriver on Facebook...I hope you've got the better of your machine by now!

Hi Fiona, very nice cards, just love that fern one and I must say I have used the 'safety' net method quite a few times - very often muff up that last stamp. Cheers and enjoy your week RobynO#9

Oh gosh, I think a sewing machine failure ranks second only to a laptop collapse. I am a little late arriving, so I hope it's on the mend now. That's a great looking book ... and two lovely cards. I admire your bravery with the top one!

I love the organic look of your single-layer card. Very pretty. Bummers on the sewing machine. Hope it's an easy fix. My next project is beginning the process of moving stuff into the new studio so I can begin to play along with the rest of you. Creative Blessings! Kelly #57

The cards are gorgeous, but then I'm partial to butterflies! And the book sure looks interesting. Can't wait to see what project you choose.
