52 Weeks of {Happy} Mail

I recently took part in a Mail Art Exchange, set up by the lovely Ginger. I had to send overseas, so I was mindful of the cost of postage. Not that I’m stingy you understand, just budget conscious! Rather than sticking lots of things to the outside of my envelope and adding to the weight, I decorated it using masks, inks and stamps. I will share my photos of it, as soon as I know it has arrived safely.

I enjoyed myself so much, that I decorated a couple more. I had a plentiful supply of envelopes to recycle, having celebrated a birthday not too long ago. I then saw this project and thought it was a great idea and a logical extension of the Mail Art Exchange. Check out their Facebook page, or read about it here instead.

I’m going to commit to send a piece of handwritten mail every week for the next year. The event starts on October 9th, anyone care to join me?

A few people were interested in the tree stamps on my desk yesterday and with a bit of detective work (I bought them second hand) they turned out to be this set from Kanban.

Tomorrow I’ll be posting Part 4 of my Handmade Gift ideas. Please drop by if you need some inspiration, there are a lot of talented folk out there.

Bringing back the good ol' days when we actually received real handwritten mail. I try to send notes via snail mail when I can and wish more people would do the same. Good luck with your challenge!

I used to do a lot of letter writing but when I got married, I just didn't have the time to carry on with the correspondence. So sad!

I really do want to join in, but I'm worried if I say yes, it's another thing I won't end up doing! Oh I, torn now.

Thanks for showing the stamps, they look great

Yep, I still love those stamps!

I would love to have time to send more mail art - I'm feeling a bit bad at the minute because I have been sent some lovely examples. I need more hours in the day!

These trees are lovely and they stamp so well as most Kanban stamps do in my experience. Thanks for visiting me, I just love having a nosey on everyones desk, its a bit like routing through a knicker draw!!
Have a good week ahead.

What a lovely idea! I'd love to join in too but I know it would be one thing too many for me right now so I'm going to be sensible... :(

Thank you for a wonderful idea. Have blogged about it so maybe the New Zealand postal service will get a small boost as well.
