Summer Scavenger hunt Round Up #3

Squeezing in under the wire, with the last of my scavenged photos.

12. A cloud in the shape of something

P1020836

I’m going with the disappearing dragon as I’ve found nothing better. Not for the want of trying!

16. A windmill

P1030103

At Bristol airport.

17. Candles

P1020859

My boy on his sixteenth birthday

18. Your local pub/bar, coffee house or tea shop

P1020822

A favourite Sixth Form hang out recently revisited.

19. A fisherman

P1030061

He’s caught a fish in his hat. Does that make him a fisherman?

20. A dinosaur

P1030016

The rarely seen Gromitasaurus.

21. A photo of you with an artistic tool

P1030184

I don’t do much without this!

That’s it. Almost a full set. I’m not counting the dodgy fisherman. Thank you Rinda for keeping us entertained this summer with your brilliant Photo Scavenger Hunt. Looking forward to the next one.

12. That pesky cloud still eludes me!

A hybrid?

Still two to find and only a week left now. I’d better get a move on.

Summer Scavenger Hunt 2013 Round Up #1

Over the next three Saturdays I’ll share my final shots for Rinda’s brilliant Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt. Some you will have seen before, but there are a few new ones and some alternatives.

1.Open Air Market

P1030027

St. Nicholas’ Market. The oldest market in Bristol established in 1743 in the streets surrounding the Corn Exchange.

2. Theatre for performing arts

P1030033

Bristol Old Vic

3. City hall, Capitol or similar civic building.

P1020815

Shaftesbury Town Hall

4. Airplane

P1030140

Blue Finch. A ‘Flying Flea’ built by Bristol engineer, Harry Dolman.

5. A sunset

P1030008

Taken during our exam results celebration picnic. Stonehenge was behind me.

6. Someone or something taking a nap

P1020775

A mallard by the lake at Stourhead.

7. A sign that is intentionally or unintentionally funny

P1030040

Hot dogs, Wallace and Gromit style.

It occurred to me (too late!) that I probably could have taken all 21 shots, during the course of our Gromit hunts, in Bristol and the surrounding areas. I have two more things to find, including that pesky cloud and a self portrait to take, which I’m leaving until last. Then I’m done. How about you?

Friday Finds ~ Summer Scavenger Hunt 2013 #6

A few of my quirkier shots for you today, although some might say, two of them are just down right cheating! See what you think.

P1030016

20. A dinosaur: the little known Gromitasaurus

P1020993

9. Something out of place: a nest tucked away in the entrance tunnel at Stonehenge

P1030019

6. Someone/thing taking a nap: a sleepy fox spotted in a Bristol street

P1030071

9. Again! A sofa perched dockside. On the far left is a reconstruction of The Matthew

P1030065

11. An animal in a zoo, aquarium etc: A dog fish at Bristol aquarium

So….cheating or being creative with the prompts? What’s the quirkiest photo you’ve taken so far in the hunt? I’m hoping to catch up on everyone’s progress soon.

ETA: Rinda is hosting a link up on her blog this weekend. Go and see her dinosaurs, they are amazing.

Friday Finds ~ Summer Scavenger Hunt 2013 #5

I’ve been looking up at the sky…..

P1020770

…..a lot…..

P1020787

in the hope of spotting just the right cloud formation.

P1020836

Of course, it appears when you least expect it and by the time you’ve dashed for your camera, that amazing dragon is already drifting away. Better luck next time!

Find the whole Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt list over at Rinda’s place. There’s still plenty of time to join in. If you’re already playing along already, have you spotted that perfect cloud yet?

Friday Finds ~ Summer Scavenger Hunt 2013 #4

Today I have a couple more shots taken on our recent visit to Stourhead.

P1020758

Ariadne in the grotto. ‘Nymph of the grot, these sacred springs I keep, and to the murmur of these waters sleep. Ah, spare my slumbers, gently tread the cave, and drink in silence or in silence lave.’

P1020775

A mallard beside the lake. Contenders for somebody or something taking a nap.

Short and sweet this week. There has not been much getting out and about, with the pollen levels being so very high at the moment. In the house, with the windows shut, is the best place for my boy right now. I’m hoping for a trip out next week.

Have a lovely weekend, whatever you are doing.

Friday Finds ~ Summer Scavenger Hunt 2013 #3

There was only ever one item on the list that would feature today.

P1020859

P1020860

P1020862

17. Candles

Happy Birthday to my boy. Sixteen today. Where did those years go?

Find the complete Scavenger Hunt list on Rinda’s blog.

PS I realised too late that my camera was still set to macro!

Friday Finds ~ Summer Scavenger Hunt 2013 #2

I took a trip to Shaftesbury, this afternoon, with a couple of items on the list in mind.

P10208143. City Hall, Capitol, or other similar civic building

Their town hall is rather prettier than ours and there was a craft fair on. With stalls outside as well as in, although I’m not counting it as my open air market.

P1020820

2. Theatre for performing arts

I teach my paper crafting class, in an upstairs room, at this lovely little arts centre. The Summer show is Dad’s Army, directed by my old infant teacher.

P1020821

18. Your local pub/bar, coffee house or tea shop

Not my most local cafe, but one I visit occasionally to meet a good friend. My claim to fame is meeting Angellica Bell, in the doorway, when she was filming here for the One Show last year.

P1020818

This could be a contender for something out of place, or an unintentionally funny sign. Having a sign pointing to the German municipality of Lindlar, in the middle of a Dorset town seems slightly out of place, unless you know they are twinned.

P1020813

15. A fire truck or police car

I had a lucky break and spotted a policeman parking his car, while manoeuvring my own. I whipped out my camera, while it was unoccupied. It is now an offence (since 2009) to take a photograph of a police officer on duty so I thought I’d best be quick.

That’s it for this week. I will probably capture another cafe, closer to home, and I have something in mind for the funny sign. These will be the final shots for numbers 2, 3 and 15 I imagine. That’s another 3 off the list. It’s going well so far.

Hope to see you again tomorrow evening for Stampin’ Up Saturday. If journalling (never sure if that should be one ‘l’ or two!) or ‘Smashing’ is your thing, then you might want to stop by for a special offer on some lovely new products. Just sayin’.

Friday Finds ~ Summer Scavenger Hunt 2013

I’m here with the first round up of shots taken for Rinda’s Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt. We made a start yesterday, my boy and me. We dragged my Mum along with us, for a morning of wandering at beautiful Stourhead. We even had some hazy sunshine. You might have almost believed it was Summer.

P1020804

10. A bench that is outside.

P1020806

There were plenty of these to be seen….

P1020807

….although very few were actually occupied.

P1020799

13. A fence

A very simple wooden one (you’ll be pleased to see Jacky!) bordering the path down to the Spread Eagle Inn.

P1020802

8. A tower.

I’d forgotten about these either side of the entrance to the house. We tend to stick to the gardens when we visit and don’t venture out across the road. I had another tower in mind, not far from this one, which we’ll go to another day.

We’ve made a few plans for the next four weeks, while my girl is still at school. I have a good idea where we’ll find most of them, but there are a couple that may prove tricky. To see the whole list and join in the fun, go visit Rinda.

I’ll be back tomorrow with Stampin’ Up Saturday. My give away is still open if you’d like to enter. Have a great weekend.

Friday Finds ~ Summertime Scavenger Hunt 2013

Now it’s not often that I plan posts ahead. I’m more of a blog on the fly sort of girl. However, I did have something in mind for this particular Friday, when I realised it fell on the longest day. Coinciding, or so I thought, with the start of Rinda’s Summer Scavenger Hunt. An event eagerly awaited by bloggers around the world.

This year it kicked off a little earlier than usual, but don’t worry, we still have a whole 3 months to find the 21 items on Rinda’s list. There’s an interesting mix as always. I haven’t started yet myself, but I was going through the list in my head while washing up and I’ve pulled a few photos from the archives that would have fitted the prompts.

P1010135

6. Someone taking a nap ~ On the plane home from the Czech Republic 08/10

P1020208

8. A tower ~ On holiday in Derbyshire last Summer 08/12

P1020215

12. A cloud in the shape of something ~ The perfect sky for cloud spotting 08/12

P1010912

13. A fence ~ All decked out for the Diamond Jubilee beacon lighting 07/12

P1020070

15. A police car ~ Waiting for the Olympic torch to arrive 07/12

P1010734

17. Candles ~ 14 of them here, it will be 16 this year! 07/11

My intention is to post my photos on Fridays throughout the summer, like I did last year. We plan to start next week, my boy and me. It will be great to have something to do together, while we get used to each others company over the next few weeks. Thank you for all the good wishes on Monday’s post. It’s going well so far.

Pop back tomorrow for a windmill (no.16) pinwheel card. Have a lovely weekend.

ETA Just to clarify: I’m not actually entering these shots into the hunt. They were images that sprang to mind, when I was thinking about this year’s list. The idea is to go out looking this summer, not to use old photos. Apologies for the confusion.
