What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #410

It seems that two weeks have sneaked by since I last shared what I was up to. Instead of a desk shot, I've got a shelfie for you today.

Like many of you, I don't have a dedicated craft room. I've got a floor to ceiling bookcase, in the lounge, which houses all my crafting goodies. As you can see it's in a *bit* of a mess at the moment and that's only the part I'm showing you!

My task this week is to sort it out. Stampin' Up released the list of retiring items on Monday, which means I need to order my stamps into current and retired. Makes life easier when I'm planning classes.

Very sad to see Kinda Eclectic go as it's one of my favourites. I think I would have bought it for those leaves alone. Petite Petals with its matching punch will be missed as well. It's one of the sets I recommend to people just starting out as it's great value and very useful.

Next week I might have an organised set of shelves to show you. It's the Easter Holidays here, meaning no school runs, so I'me hopeful. Linking up with Julia and the Deskers on this beautiful sunny afternoon. Happy Wednesday.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #346

It's the third Wednesday of the month, which means another class at the Arts Centre for me. It also means there was something on my kitchen table to snap. Not the most exciting shot I'll grant you. This was the state of play at lunch time yesterday. Kitting and making all the in between stages, ready to demonstrate.

And this is what those pieces of Spring green card stock turned into.....

.....a box to house a set of Thank you cards.

Linking up with Julia and the Deskers today. Thank you to everyone who took the time to return my comments last week, even though I wasn't joining in. Your kind thoughts on my set of cards were very much appreciated. Happy Wednesday.

Snap! ~ 1,2,3,4

Helena's weekly photographic meme has evolved for 2016. This year the aim is to find a visually linked set of between two and four images. The weather here has been wet and windy, not offering many photo opportunities, while I've been out and about. I looked through my archive for January and came up with these.

Four cards made with the same stamp set and an increasing number of ink colours.

One

Two

Three

Four

The various shades of green and purple were achieved by stamping the leaves several times without re-inking.

These were the cards we made in class last week. A bright start to the year.

ETA It seems my first three cards fit the bill over at Daring Cardmakers this month. "Leaf it alone!" Making leaves the star of the show, rather than a foil to a floral design.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #344

It's a whole month since I last managed to show you my work space. December sort of swallowed me up, with too many demands on my time. Blogging just had to go. This was the state of play, at the kitchen table, yesterday afternoon. Evidence of the mad dash to prepare for class today.

When I woke up in the morning I had no idea what we'd be making. Not a comfortable feeling. I picked one stamp set, four ink pads and got started. Five hours later I had four card samples and a pile of kits. Phew! I've always worked best under pressure, but this was a little too close to the wire even for me. Not an experience I'll be repeating any time soon.

Here's one of them. A card to send to old friends, who didn't get the usual Christmas card greetings from me. That turned out to be the straw that broke the camel's back this year. At least it would have been, if I hadn't given myself permission to pack them away so they didn't keep looking accusingly at me from their spot on the dresser. On the bright side I'll be well ahead next year.

Linking up with Julia and the Deskers. Looking forward to catching up with you all.

What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #301

Back to reality here, after a lovely weekend away in Herefordshire. I spent most of my time yesterday feeding the washing machine so no time for crafting. Instead my daughter was busy at the kitchen table, adding to her Art coursework.

She has a whole bunch of characters, but this one is herself.

I do have one thing of my own to share with you. This is the other card that I had kits for, on my “desk” last week. I just used one colour of inkpad and was really pleased with the ombre effect, as the colour faded with repeated stamping.

That’s me. I’ll be round to see what’s on your desk once I’ve hung the next load of washing out! Check them all out at Julia’s place.

What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #296

And just like that, it’s Wednesday again. The contents of the kitchen table, before class yesterday morning and it was pretty much the same scene in the afternoon.

Some of the above selection went into making…..

…..this butterfly card and matching gift box. Yep, it’s those rose leaves again. I love the way they looked stamped on vellum.

That’s it from me. I’m off to link up at Julia’s place and see what you’ve been up to.

What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday # 295

I know we say it often, but I really don’t know where the last seven days went! After the drama of the neighbour’s house fire* last week, it’s been a pretty ordinary sort of Wednesday. I’m all for that.

IMG_20150127_143231

This was the scene yesterday. I’d already made the samples and cut the kits for the main project of a card and matching box, but I needed another card. I had in mind a heart shaped easel and I fiddled about with the design….a lot….but it wasn’t happening. The only part I liked was the embossed heart and the colour scheme….

IMG_20150128_131700

….which I turned into this. Much more me. Kraft cardstock and tone on tone stamping. The heart was cut from Coredinations, embossed and sanded. A technique that was new to most of my class. The banner could easily be personalised with initials to make a wedding card.

I’m linking up with Julia, but you knew that. What else would I be doing on this ordinary Wednesday?

*A very nice fireman called round on Monday evening, to inform us that the fire had been caused by a television left on standby. He said it was rare, but something to think about.
