What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday? #153

My workspace this week is the ironing board…..

IMG_0199

…..it’s got to come in useful for something.

I bought a book of postcards to send out as Happy Mail, only to find they didn’t fit in a standard envelope. They’ve been sitting on the shelf ever since. My new score board arrived yesterday and with the extra diagonal plate I can now make whatever size I need. It’s brilliant.

Maths is not my strong point so it took me a little while to figure out the measurements I’d need to fit the postcard . A little bit of trial and error and I got there in the end. I knew that DCWV colossal stack, I bought when I first started scrapping, would come in handy one day!

For more desks, kitchen/dining room tables and floors head on over to Julia’s place. I can’t promise there’ll be any more ironing boards, but you never know.

PS If there is a maths genius reading today, who knows a magic formula for working out envelope sizes, please let me know. I’d be eternally grateful.

  3. You know the iron board is pretty good idea. You can raise and lower the height. Clever!

No math wiz here but I googled the question and I believe it said that A2 Envelopes - 4 3/8" X 5 3/4" will fit standard postcards.

    Hope that helps.

Come play on my desk if you are free.

  4. Why would you use an ironing board for anything else? I only use mine when I'm making cushions!

    Love the Wally!

  12. I can't find a way to email you, so I'll answer here :o) I kept meaning to buy a MS board too! This is very similar I think and made by Stampin' Up. I like the fact that it has 1/8th" grooves all the way across and that you can get an envelope plate that fits on top. Very useful. If you would like one and don't have a local SU demo I'd be happy to order one for you. You can email me on angelfishcrafts at gmail dot com

  16. Glad to see the ironing board in use! I'm afraid I don't know envelope measurements, I use the Crafter's Companion envelobox boards, they have it all worked out for me, just read the grid find the size and lines and off I go. Worth getting. Take care and enjoy WOYWW snooping! Zo xx 73

  19. I recently made an envelope for a Mail Art exchange, but I took the easy way out. I took apart an old envelope & traced the patterned onto my paper (really a menu)! Not very good math, but it turned out nice.

  20. I love the paper for your envelope, it IS very happy indeed! Math is not my favorite thing either...as a matter of fact, I rather hate it :) Happy WOYWW #159

  22. That looks fun! Its a great way of using up the papers we have suddenly decided we don't love as much. I can't help with the sizing I'm afraid but I do like the look of that score board - might try and make an envelope with mine but its not as fancy as yours.

  23. Lovely scoreboard. Is it the new one?

  24. Not a clue - maths was never my strong point but I like the look of your new scoreboard. The ironing board seems a good portable table to me.

  26. Oh, I did chuckle at your "got to be useful for something" comment. Wish I could say the same for mine - I'm always stood at it whilst Mr B gets on with planning. Gives me a good excuse to watch telly though!

Is that the new SU board? It's on my birthday wish list - hopefully Mr B will get it for me cos it looks fab! If I mention it's good for envelopes, he's sure to....

  27. I love making envelopes, and usually do it by folding scrap paper over the card as if I was gift wrapping it, then unfolding it and making a template by cutting along the fold lines, BUT, I've had a look, and if you have plenty of time and a clear head, :) try these 2 posts (first one square, second rectangular):
