Memorandum Monday ~ Peacock

When travelling country lanes on a Sunday morning, it's always a good idea to factor in extra time for your journey. You never know what might hold you up. Other drivers, pottering along, enjoying the scenery. Cyclists and joggers. Dog walkers and horse riders. Wild birds and animals of many kinds.

This was a new one on me.

We were on our way to Bristol to buy a suit for The Mechanic. The trip was a success and he is now appropriately kitted out. His current suit is charcoal wool and not ideal for a Summer beach wedding. Which brings me to the other thing that was new this weekend. The invitation for that wedding arrived by Paperless Post.

Have you come across it before?

There's no doubt it's very environmentally friendly. Easier to organise and less time consuming than writing and posting out a stack of invitations. However, the hoarder memory keeper in me laments the lack of something tangible I can hold in my hands. I'll bet I'm not alone.

Waving to Sian and the Mondayers on this afternoon that can't quite make up its mind and wishing you all a good week.

My friend's wedding last year was paperless, it was great because we could choose the menu online and songs we wanted to listen to on the day, we could leave message for the bride and bride to be read on the day. There were plenty of things for scrapbooker in me to take away on the day :)

Oh a summer wedding to look forward to - to bad you could not capture & hold on to that magnificent peacock! Wedding Breakfast at 6pm - is this something totally British?

I'm liking the sound of marshmallows and sparklers but I'm an old fashioned gal, and I like the whole proper paper invitation xx

That peacock is gorgeous... worth slowing down for! Can you print out the invite email? Cut it out and back it on cardstock?

How lovely to find a peacock in the road! That invitation is so awesome!

It has to be lucky to spot a peacock, doesn't it. And I've not heard of a wedding breakfast at dinner time either - intriquing. I would print out the invitation as well for a keepsake.

I love the idea of everyone bringing a local cheese - my friend's daughter had a cheese stack instead of a wedding cake - fabulous peacock and what a luck find on the road

Lucky you didn't run the peacock over! The wedding sounds fabulous and I guess a lot of money could be saved BUT I just love the thrill of receiving an invitation in the post. Reading it over and over again, keeping it...... One modern innovation which I really liked at the last wedding we went to was a photo app where everyone uploaded photos and sent messages. People posted their journeys to their wedding as well which was good fun!

The peacock looks magnificent.

I love to prop an invitation up where I can see it and be reminded of the party ahead, before I tuck it away safely after the event. So I can't see me going paperless anytime soon. This sounds like a wedding with a difference or two, though: should be a great day out

This reminded me of when 2 peacocks walked up our drive and settled in the greenhouse, the novelty soon wore off!
