I had a wonderful weekend in Herefordshire with some lovely ladies. There was much crafting, coffee, cake, chocolate and chatting. What more could you want? It was back to reality with a bang on Sunday night, when I walked through the front door, so my story had to wait until today.
We moved into our house 4 years ago and being a new build, it was a vision in magnolia throughout. High time we had some colours on the walls then. My husband is not a huge fan of decorating, but he likes to do it right. This meant we couldn’t just paint the walls, but had to do the ceiling as well. The room was duly dust sheeted and work could commence.
We took down the old light fittings, which we both hated, ready to fill, sand, wash down and finally paint. The idea being to push through, no matter how long it took and get the new light fittings up, once the paint had dried. Neither of us spotted the fatal flaw in this excellent plan. Once the natural light ran out, we had no other light at all and couldn’t actually paint the ceiling. Doh!
The lounge was very cosy, with a selection of bedside lamps, that evening, but I’m very happy to have a fresh white ceiling and some new lights now. Maybe we’ll even get some paint on the walls this week.

Oh the best laid plans usually overlook something!! Glad you had a good time in Herefordshire - thats my county of birth!
So pleased you had such a great time away. You could have carried on and got the "streaky, missed bits" sort of coverage on the ceiling :)
I love everyday life stories - something we can all relate to. And I think we can all relate to this! Our house is a new build too - it certainly does take a while to get it looking the way you want it.
Thanks Fiona
At leAST YOU DIDN'T PAIN T YOURSELF INYTO A CORNER. IT'LL BE NICE WHEN IT'S DONE

So pleased you had a great time :)
Lol ... Had to laugh, yup, been there, done that lol. Looking forward to seeing the room finished.
Great planning! In our house we are great at buying the materials and then letting them sit there unused for a long time! I agree you should take your time though.
Sometimes plans just don't go according to plan, and this always seems to be the case when building and/or remodeling. But it sounds like your solution to the problem had it's own perks.
Oh, I know this all too well! Good luck with all the painting, it is a thankless task but looks great when finished!
About the light ..... you live and you learn. I'm sure you'll work it out. Just don't try to pain in the dark.
Oh dear sounds like something we would do too :)
well done on all your hard look I am sure it will be fab when it is finished
Sounds like you had fun! Love your story x
Always do the ceiling first ... or so I'm told! I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.
LOL ... funny how the best layed plans often go astray :-)
