If you are a regular around here you'll already know that I craft at the kitchen table. That means clearing away between meals, which can be a little tedious at times, and often there is nothing to take a photograph of on a Wednesday morning. That's the case today, but I couldn't not join in, could I? Here's one I took earlier.
In Monday's post I talked about the Cornish seaside wedding we are attending this Summer. Under "Dress Code" it says:
Our wedding will be on the top of a hill by the sea with an outdoor ceremony - so expect a bit of a breeze! If it looks like drizzle or rain bring a brolly.
The ground is uneven and untamed so ladies, wear stilettos at your own risk, if the worse comes to the worst bring your wellies.
It's not the day to be wearing a full skirted Fifties number, with layers of tulle petticoat to contend with! Instead, I have gone for a different vintage style. More Katharine than Audrey Hepburn. My first thought, when I saw the Margo pattern, was Mapp and Lucia. I'm not a stiletto kind of girl so that won't be an issue.
I'll be sharing more about this another day. For now I'm wishing all the Deskers a very Happy 7th Anniversary and a Happy Wednesday to everyone else.
Don't forget, we're partying at Jan's place today. Pop over and say "Hi!", you can be sure of a warm welcome.
What an unusual but fun sounding wedding - I'm imagining the posh frocks and wellies! I think the Margot pattern would really suit you - beautifully vintage and practical in high winds too! It looks like you are my ATC recipient so if you would like to send me your address I'll pop it in the post to you.

Happy 7th WOYWW!! Thank you for all the wonderful support and comments over the past few years...I'm so grateful that we got the chance to meet through WOYWW, because our paths would never have crossed otherwise. I smiled when I saw that you were going to be the recipient of Diana's ATC - that worked out well, huh?!!
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the sound of this Cornish wedding, that dress will be brilliant but don't forget to take your thermals and sou'wester too. Don't leave the vagaries of a Cornish summer to chance :-D
Hugs, LLJ xxxx
Hi Fiona, happy WOYWW anniversary! I think I'm your ATC recipient woohOOO!! I'd like to send you one back in return, so if you'd like one of mine, please get in touch via the email on my blog sidebar and let me know your snail mail.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for the weather at the Cornish wedding, but it sounds wonderful and that outfit looks perfect. Are you watching the Sewing Bee? I don't sew much myself these days but I love watching it all the same :o) Have a lovely day. Annie C #27
That wedding sounds interesting. (Having just been to an outdoor wedding, see yesterday's blog). I do hope the weather cooperates on the day.
ReplyDeleteI am determined to visit everyone. I have dedicated today to WOYWW. (a freezer meal for hubby I'm afraid!)
Happy 7th WOYWW anniversary

Oooh! An outdoor wedding in Cornwall, sounds good and that dress looks perfect (will it go with your wellies if it rains?!!!) Hugs, Chrisx 57
ReplyDeleteYes I was just thinking the same - fab outfit - perfect for a wedding/welly combo. lol. Happy WOYWW 7th anniversary! x Jo
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of that wedding. Seems like it will be a fun day to celebrate. I hope the weather stays good and you don't need your brolly or your wellies!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW anniversary

That sounds like it's going to be a great wedding! I love the outfit you've picked :)
ReplyDeleteI really like how the bride & groom have thought to cover off many questions & possible frowns - well done them. I may in the few but I think layers of tulle with wellies could be a look, festive but practical. Oh I would like an event to attend to wear a full crinoline ... ooops sorry my fantasy.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what Katharine version you create with your pattern.
Hi Fiona, smiled at your comments about stilettos. Reminds me of when we got married, I had heels, and didn't expect any problems. It rained the day before the ceremony, and at one point we had some photos taken on the grass beneath some trees. Guess who was sinking? lol. Have a great week, Happy Anniversary, Hugs, Shaz #8 xx
ReplyDeleteWow, what fun that wedding sounds, I do hope the sun shines for them, it just makes everything a little easier don't ya think? Take your wellies LOL - I am no longer a stiletto girl (not by choice) but remember how they sink into the ground (and wooden floors). The outfit looks awesome. Happy Anniversary!! Cindy #48 xx
ReplyDeleteThe wedding sounds great and there are all kinds of patterned wellies these days so you should be able to find the perfect pair. Wishing you a happy 7th woyww anniversary, Angela x 30
ReplyDeleteThat outfit looks awesome...it will look beautiful with us new hair cut. Elaine no. 33
ReplyDeleteOh Fi, I adore that pattern, and the fabric it's shown in. Have you picked your fabric yet?
ReplyDeleteOh goodness Cornish weather! It can be a little unpredictable! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just LOVE a bride who tells it like it is?? Grin Happy 7th WOYWW Anniversary! Scrapbook Lynne Mizera, WOYWW#58
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a perfect idea for an outfit. Dare you add a poncho if it's chilly? That's be quite Margo, though not so much Mapp and Lucia I guess lol
ReplyDeletecute pattern. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!!
Have a great day.

Cant wait to see the finished dress!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like it's been forever since I visited you. In fact, I would have been by sooner, but not long after I was finally able to link up at Jan's, my electricity went out for over 12 hours due to thunderstorms. Now it seems my internet is having a meltdown, and I have to reboot after each person I visit and leave a comment to.
ReplyDeleteThat wedding sounds very original and fun. I don't own "wellies," but I wear tennis shoes EVERYWHERE. I tell people if they want me to attend their function, take me as well as my dress code (which didn't sit too well when I worked in Industry). Gosh, I sort of rambled. Must be that time of day (or night). I look forward to seeing the new dress and maybe even a glam shot of it, too. Happy 7th Anniversary from # 5.
Sounds like fun and I'm sure you'll rock that outfit!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. I can't wait to hear more about the beach wedding.
