The first Monday of the year and Sian has come up with a revamp of Me on Monday. Ideal for a quick and simple post, to kickstart a fresh new year of blogging.
You might know this already, but it was news to me. Soaking nuts in water for a few hours before eating them increases their nutritional value. It makes total sense, when you think about it. The nut wants to hang onto all its goodness, while waiting for ideal growing conditions. That's not in a bag in your cupboard. Who knew?
i didn't know that, thanks for sharing. Happy new year x
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that either! This is feeling like a good idea already :)
ReplyDeleteWho knew, I certainly didn't. Thanks for sharing that tip.
ReplyDeleteThe scientist in me wonders how that can be - it must be something to do with water triggering germination, causing the chemicals in the nut to change (or maybe not) but an absolute gem of a fact to learn. Don't think it would work on honey roast cashew nuts though!
ReplyDeleteMakes them more digestible too ...that sounds a healthy way to begin the New Year :).
ReplyDeleteI honestly never knew that, but I'm certainly going to try it x
ReplyDeleteI had no idea! Thanks for the useful tip :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that either. Quite curious really. Something must be released I guess.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that. Brazil nuts are my favorite and I had learned recently that too many of those can be bad for you as they contain selenium. I will be limiting myself to no more than 3 at a time.
ReplyDeleteGosh! I didn't know that either! And I eat a lot of nuts:) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI did not know that! Will tell my Dad as he loves nuts, though I think he prefers them covered in chocolate so that might not count ;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that either!
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting and I shall try to soak them too in future.
ReplyDeleteActually, I wasn't aware of this and great information to know as we eat a lot of nuts around here. Happy Tuesday! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that either!
ReplyDeleteI eat lots of nuts (in moderation) a few cashews or walnuts in my smoothies and breakfast yogurt mostly.

Well it just goes to show that every day's a school day, I never knew that!
