Me on Monday ~ The Stay at Home edition

It was a weekend mostly notable for what didn't happen. No home nation victories in the rugby and more importantly no 200 mile round trip to see our boy. He managed beautifully without us.

Friday saw the return of The Returned and a chance to catch our breath, after a busy few days of commuting. On Saturday there was a bit of card making, for a new arrival. Well, she's 10 days old now. You know how it is. Rugby of course, but we won't talk about that.

Sunday was a slow start with coffee and croissants, followed by washing, grass cutting (for the last time this year, I hope) and a lovely roast. My girl decided to try my way of eating the Yorkshire pudding and declared it delicious. The Mechanic remains unmoved.

More rugby. My boy watched the Ireland game in the city centre and rang me afterwards, hugely disappointed with the result. He had written the Scots off and didn't go back out for that match. I think that was the more exciting game. Those last few minutes were excruciating.

Today finds me quietly reflective. You may recall we lost my Father-in-law earlier this year and it would have been his birthday today. We'll be raising a glass to him this evening.

Joining with Sian and the growing band of Mondayers.

  3. Really pleased to hear about your son. Well Yorkshire pudding batter is the same as pancake so why not with ice Cram? I must give in a try.

    Sorry about the rugby.

  5. Is that seriously Yorkshire pudding with icecream? Mind you, who am I to knock it? Yorkshire pudding isn't a thing here at all. I've only ever had one, once!

Hurray! I'm so glad . For a brief while our boy decided he was actually Scottish. Didn't last long for obvious reasons.

All the best as you toast your FIL x

  6. Is that Yorkshire Pud with ice cream? My Dad used to eat marmalade on fried bread ...
Great news about your boy this weekend, not such great news for any of the Home Nations ...

  7. Great news on your boy - you must be relieved!
Yorkshire pudding and ice cream? What is the world coming to? Although I guess the ingredients are exactly the same as pancake mixture, but I can't get my head round eating it as a dessert!
We watched The Returned too. Took me a while to remember how the last season ended but by the end of the episode I was back on track. Unlike that road which now leads to nowhere - what's that all about? And what do you think that baby will be like when it's born? So many questions! That little boy at the end is just so creepy isn't he? Just the look on his face - what a good little actor.

  8. Ice Cream - good. Yorkshire Pudding - very good. Combine the two? I will try next weekend when there's a pudding to spare. Glad to hear that your son is doing better. I haven't seen The Returned, but I believe it is similar to one that we got from the US of A - Resurrection, which only had 2 seasons. Cute card, I like the name Willow. Hope you & the family all have a great week ahead & a raised glass (tea) to your Father In Law.

  9. Glad your boy seems more settled - and raising a glass here to your FIL.
As a child my mum was always given the choice on Sunday of having her Yorkshire pud with her dinner or with golden syrup as a pudding - which explains where I get my sweet tooth from!
    Have a good week x

  10. glad you got a weekend at home. I love icecream and yorkshires but never thought about putting the two together before - must try it sometime. My Mum's family are from Leicester and they frequently eat yorkshires as a pudding with golden syrup on top. Lovely card

  12. Golly, never thought about Yorkshire pudding with a sweet addition ... So glad your young man is managing well this weekend. Yes to the end of grass-cutting, please! (though I think we might have one more to do). I do like that lovely, sweet card.

  14. Oh you've got me wanting yorkshire pudding now. Is that really ice cream with it? Wonderful news that your son managed beautifully on the weekend. Here's to more like that! Our grass cutting is delayed this week, at least in the backyard, what with the construction going on back there. I'm betting John will take that as an excuse to not do the front. :)
