.....pinned.....
.....and sewed the darts.
This morning I've basted the side and shoulder seams, ready for (yet another) fitting when my girl gets home from her History exam. The rest *should* be plain sailing. Let's hope so. Only two weeks to go until prom. Happily, I'm feeling much more confident than I was on Sunday.
Linking up with Julia and the deskers today.
I have sewn all my life and don't think I have ever heard of a princess seam - let alone done one! Well done you. Hope it all works well - let us see the finished item. x Jo
ReplyDeleteLike Jo, I've never heard of a princess seam so well done you. Have a great week.

It sounds like you're doing well with it.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at your sewing! I'm rubbish I've still not spent time learning how to use my machine. I really need to! Enjoy your week. Take care Zo xx 39
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona, made me laugh to myself, saw the yellow and blue in your first pic, and thought 'Minion' lol. The dress sounds to be coming along nicely, we are all looking forward to seeing your daughter in it! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #4 xxx
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the dress finished ... already know it will be fab-u-lous though! Love Debbie #9 xXx
ReplyDeleteHope we get to see the dress. The Princess seam is not an easy one to master due to the fullness you have to manage so well done. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela xXx 24
ReplyDeleteYou are getting there! Is there anything more exciting than coming home to watch the progress in whatever your mum is making? i used to love to do that
ReplyDeleteno idea what a princess seam is but sounds tricky! Glad you're feeling more confident :)
ReplyDeleteI;m glad you're feeling more confident x
ReplyDeleteI have finally googled princess seam, and see how careful you have to be - it'd be a shame to have to undo all that stitching. Hoping the fit is just right and you can coast along to the finish :).
ReplyDeleteShe'll be the belle of the ball. History here today too - I hope it went ok for her x
ReplyDeleteYour work is so precise! I am full of admiration for you....basting is a necessary evil ;-)

I had intended to visit before I fell asleep this morning, but sleep won out, especially since either blogger is very slow today, or my computer is on its last leg. I wanted to personally thank you for the ATC you sent. It is really lovely and original.
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with your sewing skills. I couldn't sew a straight line if my life depended on it.
Happy WYOWW from # 1.
I hope all your hard work is appreciated. Fingers crossed it all comes together
ReplyDeleteI am sure the finished dress will be wonderful - hope we get to see... I have no idea about princess seams, but then, I am not a sewer! Helen 3
ReplyDeletePrincess seams and beautifully stitched darts... that's going to be a beautifully fitted dress and your young lady will be gorgeously turned out. I do hope she enjoys her party.
ReplyDeleteThe spotted fabric is lovely too.
It's been ages since I've sewn a garment - time I did so again!
Thanks for sharing - I'm so late this week, that it was Thursday before I got round to my post - so I'm #65 today!
Lizzie
Oh I love that you bring the precision of your character to everything that you do. Imagine coming home from an exam and being lifted by a fitting for a beautifully made dress.....how lovely.
