What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday # 295

I know we say it often, but I really don’t know where the last seven days went! After the drama of the neighbour’s house fire* last week, it’s been a pretty ordinary sort of Wednesday. I’m all for that.

This was the scene yesterday. I’d already made the samples and cut the kits for the main project of a card and matching box, but I needed another card. I had in mind a heart shaped easel and I fiddled about with the design….a lot….but it wasn’t happening. The only part I liked was the embossed heart and the colour scheme….

….which I turned into this. Much more me. Kraft cardstock and tone on tone stamping. The heart was cut from Coredinations, embossed and sanded. A technique that was new to most of my class. The banner could easily be personalised with initials to make a wedding card.

I’m linking up with Julia, but you knew that. What else would I be doing on this ordinary Wednesday?

*A very nice fireman called round on Monday evening, to inform us that the fire had been caused by a television left on standby. He said it was rare, but something to think about.

  5. You should have had a competition for the first photo - how many hearts can you see in this pic?! What a fab shot, it would make a great jigwsaw :-) The Valentines card is really lovely too....that reminds me, I haven't got one for my dear hubby yet!
And an interesting point about the TV on standby. I always switch ours off but sometimes Rhys leaves it on. I shall inform him of your news :-)

  7. Your cards always look so classy! Maybe it's the tone-on-tone stamping? Sounds like you had a crush on that fireman, Fiona, LOL! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #41

  9. Love your card especially the background. I would love a fireman calling at my door and yes I have seen a TV burst into flames, I was electrically testing it at the time as I am licensed and it went poof they are quite dangerous products, like most electrical appliances. I do hope your fireman was good eye candy.

  10. Hi Fiona, loving the heart card. The coredinations is such a great staple to have to hand, isn't it? Nothing more dispiriting than keep pushing at a project that just won't work, so well done with the result. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #13 xx

  11. Beautiful card - love the double stamping for the background, so effective over the woodgrain. Yippee to firemen on the doorstep - I thought TVs left on standby was a common cause of housefires - I always turn ours off at the set even when we are home, in fact I am a nightmare for when we are going out as I have to go round the whole house and check that everything is turned off - I am really paranoid about my GHDs - apparently they cause a lot of fires too

  12. I really love that card. My friend's mum is a letting agent and one of their houses burnt down last week because someone had left an iPhone charger plugged in and on without it charging anything. The fireman said it was the most common cause of fires now! x

  13. Hello Fiona. That card is so lovely - well done for being brave and giving up on what wasn't working.
Firemen on the doorstep?? Good one! But incredible to think that we leave these things on 'cos we think it is the right thing to do so the TV doesn't lose all it's local info.... gives pause for thought!
    Take care. God bless.

  18. Gah, a tv on standby...luckily, ours won't do that. I have a scrappy friend who's sole job at a large Insurance Company was to deal with fire stations over claims resulting from plug in air fresheners....she always used to say that they should be banned...she dealt with death and destruction on a daily basis. Awful.
I love the Rose leaf stamp, really pretty, and as always, you've aced the card...wonder what the easel card would have ended up like?!!
