What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #285

It’s Wednesday again and there’s nothing (other than a fruit bowl) on the kitchen table this morning. The kits are prepared and everything is stacked, ready for me to pack in the car. Of course, I will be looking in those boxes before I do.

This was the scene just after lunch yesterday. The last few ‘inbetween’ stages being made and a little experiment. I read somewhere, the other day, that with clear stamps it is better/easier to do the die cutting first and then stamp on the shapes. I always tell my class the opposite and generally we use rubber stamps. In the interests of fair play I thought I’d give it a bash. The results weren’t *bad* but for me the end product is cleaner and more accurate, when I do it the other way round.

In the last session we made the card above. I kept it simple, because that style was new to everyone, including me. This week we’ll be a making a ‘stepped up’ version, using those cute little house. Again? I don’t think I’ll have any complaints! I’ll share what we made later in the week. Santa and his sleigh may be involved.

Now, onto to the point of me sharing all this with you this morning. Although I suspect you already know. I’m linking up with Julia and the other deskers, for our weekly hop around the workspaces of the world. See you there.

PS If you’re looking for a gift for the handy man or woman in your life, then Friday’s post might interest you. Shameless advertising I know, but for a good friend, not me. If you appreciate a well crafted tool (no sniggering at the back) then take a look.

  2. Awesome to be so organized! i love the card…snowflakes and snowmen are a favorite of mine. I and with you on stamping first and then cutting. I use a low stick tape to hold the die on the image and it does cut so nice! Hope you have a great class! Have a great week. Vickie #17

  4. How is it even your "messy" desk is artistically so and still leaning towards NEAT? Really, how DO you manage it? Mine looks a mess from the first task! Another stamp than cut and the card is perfect. love it.

    Happy happy WOYWW!

  9. The stamps are now on my desk too and I'm starting to wish I had a diecutter so I could cut little house shapes too

  10. Love how you have used the frame punch to get that beautiful shaping to the bottom of the card - never thought of that, hope you don't mind if I cardlift that some day. I always stamp first and then diecut, if you have the magnetic plate it is so much easier that way, I find even with clear stamps I never quite get the stamp in the centre if I do it the other way round. I have a Papertrey ink die that is solid (not a frame) so you have to die cut first and then stamp - I end up throwing away quite a few mishaps!! Hope class has been a fun one for you today x

  28. Oh I love that card that looks like a room divider screen. I love how you cut out the bottoms. Very elegant!
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder.
I'm a bit late, but as most people know, I take my time to read through everybody's blog. I love looking at photos, and clicking on links and even reading previous posts.
    Have a good week,

  29. I recently bought two sets of stamps with the die. Shamelessly they are still in the packaging. So your preference is to stamp first then die cut? I will have to try both to see which works best for me.

The card you made is great. I admire people that try new things!

I knew it would be through the weekend before I was able to visit desks. Better late than never!

    Happy belated WOYWW
    Peace,
