Summertime Photo Scavenger Hunt 2015 #2

A few more shots taken for Rinda's fun scavenger hunt.

1. A bouquet of flowers

My niece's bridal bouquet.

10. A college or university

We've visited many colleges and universities over the last year, but this was the only one I've been near during the time frame of the hunt. Neither of my children will be studying any of these subjects!

17. At least two people wearing matching outfits or uniforms

As soon as saw this item on the list, I knew my niece's wedding would provide me with the ideal photo opportunity. What a lovely colour scheme she picked. Don't you think?

Six down, fifteen to go. I have taken a few more, but hoping to get some better shots to replace them. I know some folk have already completed the list already, but there's plenty of time yet.

Pairs ~ From the Scrap Heap

Joining in with Helena's photographic meme today.

We came across this fellow, in the woods, while out for a walk in Llanelli....

....and this one in the grounds of Dinefwr, both made from scraps.

Yet another routine hospital appointment for my girl this afternoon. I'll be round to see what other pairs have been found later.

Me on Monday ~ The Foodie Edition

I'm giving Sian a big welcome back wave this Monday.

It was a recipe browsing.....

.....mackerel frying, lentil experimenting, fruit whizzing.....

.....marshmallow melting, chicken roasting, rain avoiding sort of weekend.

This afternoon you would have found me having a light bulb moment. I finally figured out why my pocket linings don't match up with the skirt front. The pattern pieces don't include the seam allowance and whilst I added it to all the denim pieces, I completely forgot when I got round to cutting the cotton print. Doh!

Have a great week.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #320

Since I last joined in with the weekly desk hopping we have had a family wedding and an eighteenth birthday to celebrate. Has it really only been two weeks? With both children at home (and my sewing machine breaking in the middle of making the prom dress) there has not been much craftiness happening at the kitchen table.

I did treat myself to this lovely book, courtesy of an Amazon voucher, along with a couple of other practical purchases, for when I've figured out what is wrong with the machine. In the meantime I'll share a couple more cards, from my last class, with you. I enjoyed putting these projects together with my new Butterfly Basics set and I can see many more possibilities.

A one layer card, which is something I rarely do myself and even less in class. It makes people a bit nervous I find. Especially stamping the final image, if the others have all gone well. There's nowhere to hide. I used a nice thick piece of card so that it could be turned over for a second attempt, if necessary, and nothing would show. Knowing there's a "safety net" is all the encouragement needed sometimes.

Back to my usual layers with this one. The same butterfly stamp set as above, with the addition of old favourites, Gorgeous Grunge and the woodgrain background. You can't go wrong with kraft and I like the little touch of vellum. I just love the sentiment stamp and have been putting it on every birthday card I've made lately!

My next project will probably be an album with the photos from my niece's wedding. Project Life style I think, as I have so many of them! What's next on your list to make?

Pairs ~ To and From

Today I'm taking part in Helen'a creative photography meme and sharing a pair of pictures (from the many) taken at my niece's wedding.

Transport to.....

.....and from.....

.....the church.

Me on Monday ~ The Wedding Edition

I'm sure Sian won't mind us keeping the home fires burning, while she is away.

It was a finery wearing...

.....knot tying.....

.....champagne drinking.....

.....high fiving.....

.....speech making (tear jerking).....

.....memory making.....

.....kind of weekend.

And yes, I did manage to tick #1 and #17 off the Scavenger Hunt list, along with a bonus of #12, which I'll share on here another day. Happy Monday everyone.

One Photo & Twenty Words

There was only ever one photo I would share today for Abi's lovely meme.

Channelling the Fifties vibe. Polka dots, purple petticoats and......Converse. Well, what else would you wear with your prom dress?

I'm delighted that the dress is getting another outing tomorrow, for my niece's wedding. I'm hoping to tick #1 and #17 off the Scavenger Hunt list while we're there!

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #318

It's been almost a month since I last joined in with Julia's weekly peek at desks around the world. Really? I didn't believe it either, but my blog archive tells me so.

This is what my kitchen table looked like yesterday afternoon. Kitting for class this morning. My last until September.  A pile of off cuts and a couple of rejects.

One of the finished cards. I'll share the rest later in the week. My little photo shoot was cut short when my brother dropped in for coffee, followed by my nephew a couple of hours later and they've only just left. I do love a surprise visit.

I really should be cooking the dinner right now, so short and sweet it is today. Happy Wednesday.

Me on Monday ~ The Back Down to Earth Edition

First there was revision, followed by exams and an end to the school routine, as we have known it for many years now. Then there was much measuring, sewing and fitting, followed by yet more sewing* and the excitement of the prom.

And finally there was frenzied washing, folding/rolling (definitely no ironing) and packing, followed by a wonderful week in Wales. Beautiful scenery and the perfect weather in which to explore it. Thick walls and quarry tile floors in our cottage were an added bonus for keeping cool in the heat. Bliss.

Today you'll find me working my way through the remainder of the washing, preparing for my class on Wednesday and waving to Sian and her Merry Mondayers.

Have a great week.

*I have plenty to say about that sewing and pictures to share another day.

Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt 2015

Rinda's brilliant Scavenger Hunt has become a much anticipated part of our Summer holidays now. I've got an earlier start this year, with school being done already for us, and I captured my first few finds while we were away on holiday last week.

4. People playing a board game or card game.

A family game of Munchkin. A new one to us. Bought to reward all the hard work put in during exam season. Always a stickler for the rules, My Boy was just checking a move.

16. A panoramic view, taken while standing someplace high in the air.

A view from the highest point of Dinefwr castle.

20. A natural body of water.

Beautiful Rhossili Bay, viewed from the coastal path at the beginning of our walk.

I have a good idea where I might find a few others on the list and, as always, there are some that may prove more of a challenge. Bring it on.
